LF pro chest runner to teach!
Hello everyone,
I need someone who knows what they are doing to teach me how to become a pro chest runner. I have about 100k saved up to get me started on making money and running chest. I could pay a little bit for your time and help, but I prefer to spend it on keys instead. I have a level 20 ranger, warrior, and others. You can pm me instead of replying if you feel more comfortable with it.
A few questions I would need answers to...
Is it profitable?
Is it time consuming?
Is it easy?
Where is the best place? I'm assuming UW or FoW.
Thanks in advance

1. Yes and No
2. YES
3. Depends on profession and area being run. A/E perma sins i think would be best, anything with SF.
4. My personal favorite is domain of fear (Leave from Gate of Secret or Gate of fear) and go to the area where you see Terrorweb dryders. Here you can get some nice inscipable items including but not limited too...
Storm bows
Eternal Shields
Eternal bows
Fiery Blade axes
Icy Blade axes
Fiery dragon swords
Fellblades
Ghostly staffs

UW and FoW Chestruns have been nerfed, because u have to kill enemies to spawn chests...
NF endgame would be best, such as Domain of Fear - like tuna-fish_sushi said^^

Kill enemies to spawn chests? Not in FoW, technically I suppose in UW. You may have to pull the shadow army to the skeleton patrols to initiate a "fight" so that the forge will open in FoW, but you would only need to do that if a chest spawns in forge anyway, which isn't all that common. As for UW, you need to kill enemies to gain access to other areas of the map, but as long as I've been a chest runner, no one has done chest runs in UW anyway.
Wunderlust, chest running can be very profitable, but it's a gamble. The first time I ever ran in FoW, I got a Q10 +5 energy gold Chaos Axe, which at the time was worth quite a bit more than it is now. I've also done plenty of runs in FoW and sold every drop to the merchant. The point is, you really shouldn't expect to become rich from chest running, I do it for fun, which is probably the best reason to do anything in this game. If you ever want to get in on some FoW chest runs I'd be more than happy to bring you along.

A way to become rich from chest running is to do it over and over and sell bulk unids. Maybe ID the gold runes, as vigors and superior shadow are worth a fair bit these days.
This might not be profitable at first, if you don't have a high retain rate, but it does become profitable later, as well as max your lucky/unlucky titles.

are you going to run chests for money or title? if for money it kinda sucks and takes too much time. for the title forget about those stupid fow/uw chests and all the other crap you ever heard about. just run the solo dungeon in gunners. if you are lucky and fast you can get 60+ chest per hour and all the stuff got inscriptions.
ps: it doesnt matter which class and lvl you are, since you get a skillbar for the dungeon.

CoF and Brawling dungeon are both good for chest running, also heard that the Snowman dungeon is also good, but haven't tried it for Chest alone... CoF can get you 1-2 chest a/minute and possibly 50-60 an hour if you lucky on the chest spawns. Brawling dungeon I haven't done much of yet, but I am sure it would be easy to run through with perma SF and grab all the chest and restart. Chest running is expensive, and not always profitable. It would be best to chose a good chest running area where you can get a nice skins that is worth alot, and also inscribable weapons. I like running CoF myself since you can get Fellblades and Serrated Spears, which can be worth 20-35k if q9. There are also some other decent skins you can get, Darkwing Defenders and few others... Best thing bout CoF, is the run is really short, and can 2 chest to spawn pretty close together. You also make money from perfect mods too, so you can make profit. But no matter what, you will make some money back from buying lockpicks. Chest Running can be Profitable, but not always. It is a loooong loooong grind, but definately one of the harder PvE titles in game... It can be fun, but yet, it can get boring if you spend more than an hour straight doing runs. Chest Running inscribable areas is always recommended, it definately gives you a higher chance to make more profit than farmin Uninscribable areas such as Factions or Prophecies. Not to meantion, people actually buy inscribable skins, and some can be worth a good amount. Farming Uninscribable weapons will cause you to lose alot of money, with no chance to get perfect inscriptions and extra mods for profit.
My sin is almost rank 6 Master Treasure Hunter (800 more chest), with rank 4 Wisdom, along with rank 3 lucky title (soon to be rank 4)
As for retainment, the higher the better, but of course it takes money to get titles up, which in the long run can be worth it.

- not very
- yes !!
- vary with places you are chest running. Some places are easy.
- Poisonned outcorps (R/A) , nighfallen jalai (R/A), snowmen (R/Mo invinci), kilroy (any). Witmann fooly is the fastest place for the title, but items are craps.
Ranger is one , if not the best class, for chestrunning.

Ranger IS a good class for running and chest running (hai almost 90% tyria and 75% cantha), but Assassins are a bit better. 95% invulnerability to anything you can run past with shadow form, with I Am Unstoppable and some kind of regeneration skill (Shadow Refuge) it's basically 99%. I think you can't run in some areas of Desolation solo...

I like running with SF sin minus Glyph of Sacrifice (speccing into other professions). Dark Escape + Feigned Neutrality when SF ends = a decent substitute to an otherwise unlimited godmode.

Here are two of the Perma Sin builds that I use for Chest Running:
================================================== =====
[Build prof=A/E sha=12+3+1 dead=12 box][glyph of swiftness][deadly paradox][shadow form][dark escape][dwarven stability][death's charge][mindbender][feigned neutrality][/build]
This one is good if you don't want to deal with Arcane Echo, but it doesn't have any energy management, but it still works fine with regen. Just make sure you don't use anything that would give you -1 energy pip. This is the one I have been using since SF update. This build is alot easier to manage.
Use Mindbender before Glyph of Swiftness and Deadly Paradox to keep you running if Dark Escape is canceled out. When Mindbender is about to wear off, hit Dwarven Stability, then Dark Escape. Repeat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[build prof=a/me sha=12+3+1 ins=12 dead=3 box][deadly paradox][shadow form][arcane echo][dark escape][dwarven stability][death's charge][mindbender][auspicious incantation][/build]
This build is the same build I been using since EoTN was released. It still works great, and it has really good energy management. Using Arcane Echo can take some time getting used to, and to learn the timing and order of skill usage.
Use Mindbender, Auspicious Incantation, Deadly Paradox, Arcane Echo, and Shadow Form in that exact order. When Mindbender is about to wear off, hit Dwarven Stability then Dark Escape. Repeat.
================================================== ========
Enjoy.

Probably badluck but Blazing wing wands are VERY common, If your going for just cash intrest just get the chests that are next to Terrorweb Dryders, those generally drop the UW items.
FTL Purple Blazing wing wand q13 and broken LockPick

I'd trade 15picks for Elite Rit, Elite Monk, and Elite Ele tome anyday, The runs not what it used to be because of the loss of value in the items, I ran it back when Q9 Eternal Shields inscriptable were 100k+35e (e @ 5k each) so there was huge profit to be made.
